About
Meet the Founder
Todd grew up in a family of builders—contractors, plumbers, engineers, excavators—and spent his childhood on residential job sites. His father built houses as a labor of love, and Todd helped raise nearly every home his family lived in. Construction wasn't something he learned; it was something he grew up inside of.
He started Woodward Builders in college, while earning a finance degree from UConn. The philosophy hasn't changed since: put the client at the center, listen to what they want, and do the best work he can. Thoughtful, interesting work for people who care about the outcome—that's what makes it worthwhile.
The business grew the old-fashioned way, one job and one happy client at a time. Thirty years later, without ever running an ad, it still runs on word of mouth.
Todd has hand-worked nearly every trade himself, from framing, excavation, concrete and roofing, to cabinetry, millwork, painting and timber framing with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery. That experience gives him a sharp eye for quality, and over the years he's built a close-knit team of in-house craftspeople, subcontractors, and vendors who share that standard, and trust each other to do the job well. He's just as drawn to the design side—proportion, detail, the small judgment calls that make a space feel right.
Outside of work, Todd loves traveling and spending time with family—cycling, trying new restaurants, or unwinding in Nantucket, Maine, or Vermont.
